The things we would rather you knew in advance

We hold yard slots we may not fill

We reserve blocks with three yards from March and pay to keep them. Some years we hand two back unused and swallow the deposit. It is the only way a boat that breaks in October still hauls in November.

Our margin is on the fee, not the invoice

A flat management fee, and every contractor invoice passed through at cost with the original attached. We give up the usual ten to fifteen per cent uplift on subcontract work, which is where most of this industry actually earns.

We lease crew flats through the summer void

Thirty-one apartments on twelve-month leases so that a rotating engineer has a bed in January. Roughly a third sit empty from July to September and we carry the rent.

We will tell you the paperwork is wrong before you sign

If a charter structure or an importation file will not survive an inspection, we say so, and we have lost work to agencies willing to say nothing. We would rather lose the boat than sit in front of the Guardia Civil with it.
